Young Germans (18-30 yrs) have more trust in the European Union than in their government or parliament.
The issues that concern young Germans the most are Human rights violations, Climate change, Sexual harassment and abuse.
Young Germans are pessimistic about the future (climate, standard of living, economy, tensions etc.) but older Germans are even more pessimistic.
Despite worrying about climate change, young people, on average they are not more engaged in environmentalism than older people. Though the avenues young Germans are more engaged in are more visible (like social media, and fashion choices).
Young Germans feel lonelier, are more concerned with their mental health, and expect it to worsen.
Young Germans are more focused on finding a place to live, growing their careers, and being recognized and valued socially – we cannot ignore these drivers even in the sustainability engagement lens.
Young Germans feel overloaded by information they are being bombarded with. Especially young Germans who worry about the environment but are not actively trying to bring change long for simplicity and clarity.
