What was the challenge you were facing at the time you decided to work with Glocalities?
Emmaus Village is an innovative community for people living with dementia. As we prepared to welcome new residents, our challenge was to identify their common interests and lifestyles before admission, so we could assign them to the right house. We wanted to ensure every resident felt at home and could adapt easily, while also creating harmonious households. The challenge was how to identify beforehand the common interest and lifestyles of our new residents so that we could assign them to the right house.
What motivated you to consider Glocalities as your business partner to help you with this challenge?
We were inspired by the Hogeweyk approach in the Netherlands, which uses a values-based questionnaire to allocate residents. Hogeweyk recommended Glocalities, the agency behind this methodology. Glocalities offered a unique cross-cultural database and a robust segmentation system, which we trusted to help us match residents effectively and support a cohesive community.
How did Glocalities help you practically? How do you use Glocalities insights moving forward in your project?
Glocalities offered us a vivid and detailed portrayal of five distinct resident segments. Additionally, they developed a test that enables our consultants to quickly categorize a new resident into one of the five segments within minutes. This tool assists our consultants in making informed decisions about the optimal placement for our new resident, assisting the resident to adapt to the new environment and household more successfully. Having residents placed into these segments allows cohesion of the household during a stressful time in the new residents’ lives and supports the other house residents and home companions.
How do you evaluate the Glocalities services? Did these meet your expectations?
The tool is very easy to use and can be accessed both on site at Emmaus Village and out in the community with our dementia support consultant using it during pre-admission resident meeting to give us time to discuss results, consult with family about outcome and decide on best location for the new resident. The questions are appropriate and well thought out and results are delivered quickly. After using it for the last 15 months we have not had any doubt on any of the resident segment results and we have not had to relocate any of our residents due to conflict or disharmony in the houses which is very important to Emmaus Village.
